KCHS Sites Schedule

The Keweenaw County Historical Society operates eleven historic sites and museums. Here is the schedule of hours and dates that the various sites are available to the public. (Follow the links to pages with information about that specific site.)

Attended Museum Sites

Eagle Harbor Lighthouse museum complex- includes Commercial Fishing Museum, Maritime Museum, Keweenaw History Museum

Admission $5 , children free

Central Mine Visitors Center

  • Opens – June 12
  • Closes – October 9
  • Hours of Operation
  • Daily – June through October, – 9 AM to 5 PM (Docents will be present as volunteers are available.)

 

Eagle River Museum

  • Opens – June 12
  • Closes – October 9
  • Hours of Operation
  • Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, 12 – 4PM, Docents will be present.
  • NOTE: The Eagle River Museum is located in the Eagle River Township Hall and Community Building on M-26 across from the falls.


The School at Gay

  • The museum at the school at Gay will open on June 18 and will be open each Wednesday and Saturday until October 9 from 12–3 PM. Docents will be present. Additional open houses will be held on Monday, July 4 and Monday, September 5 from 12-3PM

Bammert Blacksmith Shop at Phoenix

Rathbone School Museum (Knights of Pythias Museum) at Eagle Harbor

  • Opens – June 12
  • Hours: June, September and October – Noon- 5 PM
  • Hours: July and August – 10 AM to 5 PM, Sundays Noon – 5 PM
  • Closes – October 9

Life Saving Museum at Eagle Harbor

  • Opens June 12
  • Hours: Daily – 9 AM to 6 PM
  • Closes – October 9
  • Note: The Life – Saving Museum is located on the east entry point of Eagle Harbor. Take Marina Road off M-26.
