Presenter- Sarah Fayen Scarlett, MTU Prof. of History
Using buildings from Eagle River and Copper Harbor as examples, Dr. Scarlett will talk about how archaeologists use construction, building techniques, and the materials of historic buildings to reconstruct the past thus revealing much about people's unrecorded daily routines. Building Archaeology will be highlighted at the annual conference of the Vernacular Architecture Forum, whose members will come from all over North America to Keweenaw in June 2024 to explore the history of the Copper Country.
